Cultural Program and Last day at school!

Cultural Performance photos!
Jennie and I after our Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge performance! Intermediate Hindi saath saath hain!
Kara and I. Yes I wrapped her sari. Yes, I know I'm kind of a pro at saree-wearing.
Louisiana ladies.
Violet. I need not explain more. What would this summer have been without her?
Nishita and Nafeeza. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi!

Last day of school photos~!
Vijaya-Ji and I. She said to me that she considered me like a member of the family. I think this made my entire summer.
Abhilasha-ji. I always wanted to have Bacchchit with her because she encouraged my speaking more than anyone else in the program.
Rekha-ji. Quiet yet has mad-game.
Love and I. I mean Prem and I. The running joke is that most of the girls love him. I don't see why?
Intermediate Hindi- Critical Language Scholarship Jaipur Summer 2010.

Wow, a few weeks ago it was the beginning. Where did the time go?

I'm in the midst of packing right now. I've got enough stuff to open a store of Indian tourist items.
Anyways, this is the last post for the summer as I will be stateside and I can see my mom as much as I want and she can see me as much as I want.

This is for you mom to see some photos of my last day here in Jaipur. Can't wait to come home and show you my photos and everything else and most importantly, being with you all.

Love you and can't wait to see you!

additional photos

Violet and I at Fatehpur Sikri, near Agra. This was the day before the Taj Mahal (See previous entry)
I was just here today! This is in Jodhpur, also known as the Blue City. This is the Umaid Bhawan. I will tell you more about this later.
As you can see behind me are little blue houses, this is one of the reasons why this is known as the Blue City. Jaipur is known as the Pink City.
Another photo of me at Mehrangarh Fort with the Blue City behind me.
Here is Violet and I at the Taj Mahal of Rajahsthan. After going there yesterday, nothing beats it.

amer fort and jaigarh fort

Here I am outside of Jaigarh Fort, which is home to the largest cannon on wheels! It is located on the top of the hill and connected to Amber Fort, which lies at the bottom of the hill. I have yet to make the trek up the hill, hence why I do not look as sweaty....yet.
Here I am after the gruesome climb up. You can see those walkways behind me, we had to walk up that to the top of the hill. Let me tell you, I was wearing chappals, but I wanted my new balances more than anything and rock it with my salwar kameez.
Some more shots up at Jaigarh Fort.
Again at Jaigarh Fort, this was the place they retreated to during wars! It's on top of the Cheel Ka Teela, which means hill of the eagles!
My friend told me that before Aishwarya gets married in Jodhaa Akbar, they are seen to be at the colored circle to my left in the photo, to your right of me. Pretty cool hai na?
I thought Mel would like this picture of me.
See if you can spot me! This is at Amber Fort, at the bottom of the hill! This is where they believed that Akbar's wife is from. Jodhaa was his third wife I believe.
This is called the Sheesha Mahal, or the Palace of Glass because there are tiny mirrors everywhere. They believed that they used to provide light in here by a single candle due to the reflection of the mirrors.
Cheesing.
This picture turned out horrible. I'm not sure why the camera was being a jerk here.
At the entrance of the gate!

So, I finally got to go. I am trying to go to Ajmer soon. Perhaps I will be able to once I get the school stuff worked out.
I'm so excited. Taj Mahal this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
I'm the first in my family to go! I'm sooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Will update again soon with pictures. Enjoy for now!

hawa mahal

Beginning of the Hawa Mahal! The palace of winds (hawa mahal)
Inside the building, near one of the windows!
In a little cubby hole! CHEESE!!!
At the end of the trip!

Hawa Mahal is really beautiful. Will post more pictures from my fancy camera later. This place is a photographer's dream because there are so many beautiful opportunities to shoot. Will go through my photos soon and will post the best ones from my journey thus far. I cannot believe it is coming to an end so soon.
This weekend Whitney and her roomate might come and visit in Jaipur. We are supposed to go Sanganer as a class, but if they cannot come, we can do something else. We will go to that resort Saturday night, Choki Dhani and then Amer Fort on Sunday. Sounds like a great time. Perhaps we can do something else on Saturday. Or perhaps we can go to Sanganer separately.

Anyways, will post soon. Leave comments. Love you Mom, Mel and Dad!
